Your favourite feel good breakfast, was recently joined by Nigerian author Ayobami Adebayo, as she discusses her debut novel with Leigh-Anne. Ayobami has written a number of short stories that have appeared in in various collections and magazines, with one even been praised in the 2009 Commonwealth short story competition.
Ayobami holds BA and MA degrees in English Literature, that she acquired from Obafemi Awolowo University, she has also acquired a MA in Creative Writing from the University of Anglia. She has been working as a magazine editor since 2009, but has received residencies from Sinthian Cultural Centre, Hedgebrook, Siena Art Institute and Ox-bow School of Arts, among many others.
Her debut novelStay With Me was recently published Knopf publishers for worldwide publication on 22 August 2017, but it’s not the first time as the book had previously been first published by a small Nigerian press. It’s an emotional novel set in Nigeria, around the trials and tribulations of a married couple in the 80’s and 90’s, about a strong woman and the lengths that she has to go through to keep her marriage in tact. A truly great and inspirational read to all.
