It's all about the headscarf!

Headscarves have been around for a while – yes, BUT in recent years there’s been increasing interest in them as solely fashion accessories and by a younger generation. Though holding profound religious and cultural symbolism for many South Africans, the headscarf has seen a contemporary re-boot of late, drawing a whole new pool of users keen to experiment with their fashion sense. There are even Scarf Stylists, whose job it is to refurbish a traditional staple, offering a dizzying number of ways to wear. From the hijab to the doek to the turban – throwing in a bit of gypsy-boho for good measure – modern variations are endless and in abundance.
