On this day 01 February

We live in a world that is constantly changing and life seems to be getting faster by the day. So as we welcome today, 1st February, we take a look at what happened in history on this day…

Green Day
We’re taking a bit of a trip down memory lane today because on this day in 1994, punk rock band Green Day released their album Dookie which went on to sell over 20 million copies worldwide. Now you may be thinking ‘ah, ok cool’ but did you know that the album played a significant role in putting punk rock music into mainstream popularity? In fact, the album was so popular, it peaked at number 2 on the Billboard charts in several countries at the time.

Janet Jackson
On this day in 2004 came one of Janet Jackson’s biggest ‘slip-ups’ and by slip we mean the nip-slip *cough cough*. Yes, on the 1st Feb thirteen years ago, Janet was subject to public humiliation after her breast exposed during the Super Bowl half-time show. The ‘accident’ made headlines and the scrutiny was so harsh that it resulted in US broadcasters adopting a stronger adherence to FCC censorship.

Harry Styles
And lastly but definitely not least is the handsome and sexy Mr Harry Styles who celebrates his birthday today. Born in Redditch, England in 1994, Harry had a pretty normal life until he entered X Factor and obviously become one of the members in boy band, One Direction. He turns 23 today.
