Charlie Chaplin makes film debut On this day in 1914, Charlie Chaplin's first film appearance, Making a Living premiered. After this production, Charlie went on to star in several silent films, so much so that he is still regarded as a pioneer in the film industry. He was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1958 but because of his political views, he only received it in 1970. Rather late than never but at least he got his star.

Most famous for her hit singles that include, Whenever, Wherever and of course, the Waka Waka that had everyone singing along and shaking their hips during the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s life ended on this day 3 years ago after a suspected drug overdose. While he did struggle with his addiction, he was also one of the most talented actors having won several awards including an Academy Award for Best Actor in 2005. One of the last film’s he appeared in is hit franchise, The Hunger Games.
