Rhodes Quality Chakalaka and Baked Bean Buns

Rhodes Quality Chakalaka and Baked Bean Buns

Makes 8


Recipe by Zola Nene


For the dough:
500g flour
10g packet instant yeast
1 Tbs sugar
2 Tbs dried oregano
2 tsp salt
50ml olive oil
±260 ml warm water


For the filling:
½ tin Rhodes Quality Chakalaka
½ tin Rhodes Quality Baked Beans in Tomato Sauce
1 cup grated cheddar cheese


Method:
Mix together flour, yeast, sugar, oregano and salt.
Mix in the olive oil, and then add enough water to form a soft dough.
Knead until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Cover and leave to rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
Preheat oven to 180C, grease a muffin tin.
Roll dough out into a rough 30cm square.
Mix together the chakalaka, baked beans and cheese, then spread onto the dough to cover the surface.
Carefully roll the dough on itself to encase the filling to form a Swiss roll shape, pinch the edges to seal.
Slice the roll into 8 equal pieces, then push each piece into a muffin tin hole.
Cover with a damp cloth and leave to rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
Brush the surface with Olive oil, then bake for 25-30 minutes or until the bread buns are cooked through.
